Our Mission Statement
We strive to find effective and safe methods of healing to meet each individual’s needs for health and freedom. We provide a confidential environment for our patients to receive the appropriate care and treatment.
After graduating from the university with a double major in English and Philosophy, he taught English as a Second Language at the community college level. A friend introduced him to homeopathy twenty-five years ago and since then he has been a serious student and practitioner of homeopathy. He received his medical degree in 1996 from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed his internship in Family Medicine at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. He has had extensive clinical experience working in rural hospital Emergency Rooms in Texas. Dr. Bekker is a member of the American Institute of Homeopathy, and the National Center of Homeopathy. He has also received training at the Canadian Academy of Homeopathy. He has been practicing homeopathy in Dallas since 1999. He has five children including one with special needs. Dr. Bekker is grateful for all the benefits that homeopathy has brought to his patients and family. He is happy that homeopathy has restored health and well being to the lives of many of his patients, family and friends.
Many of you might remember me as Dr. Bekker’s eldest daughter. I am currently a community college student. I am majoring in vocal performance. I am working on my basics and I soon hope to transfer to a music conservatory or liberal arts university. I am very excited to have been working in the office for the last 4 months. The office is an environment that allows me to feel motivated to help others and also allows me to strive to meet our goals as a homeopathic family clinic. I know that my experiences in the office will be helpful in the future. Also, being part of this has broadened my knowledge of the work that my father provides to his patients, which I admire him for. I have been treated homeopathically my whole life. I strongly believe in homeopathy as an alternative natural form of medicine that gently helps the organism heal itself.

Patient Story of the Month
A Mother’s Search for A Healthier Life
Lori W. lost over 75 pounds in 5 months. She is a mother of two small children and a full-time home school teacher. She wanted to improve her family lifestyle through dietary changes and improve her overall well being. How did she do this? How did she overcome her struggles to achieve a more balanced and healthy life not only for herself, but for her family as well?
Here is Lori’s story:
I have been struggling to lose weight since the birth of my son 3 years ago. My energy was very low and as a wife, mother and home school teacher this was a problem. I wasn’t able to really play with my children and interact with them, as I would have liked to. I knew that the weight that I was at wasn’t healthy for me and that if I continued at that weight it could lead to serious health issues. So, I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Bekker. Making that first appointment with Dr. Bekker was, as Dr. Bekker reminded me, “my first step to being properly selfish”. The best thing that I could do for myself, and for my family, was to take care of me. He challenged me to stop putting my needs on the back burner and to address them. In doing this I would be able to have the part in each member of my family’s lives that I so wanted to have. Most of what Dr. Bekker has helped me with is realizing I needed to change. Dr. Bekker had already been treating my children, so when I came to see him last fall I was already familiar with his practice. I like the natural approach to healing and I didn’t want a quick fix. I continued my 6 week appointments to Dr. Bekker’s office throughout my weight loss journey and I feel that it was these appointments and remedies that helped to keep me balanced. I have tried many different diets and would end up getting frustrated and giving something entirely different for myself. I could always lose the first 10 pounds but I was always so hungry and irritable, and with small children that’s a bad combination. We also have a very active social life, which, always seems to revolve around food. So when Dr. Bekker suggested Dr. Furman’s book “Eat to Live” and told me that it was a vegetarian diet, my first thought was that there was no way this was going to work for my life. I ordered the book and read it, and for the first time it made sense to me why I was frustrated in the past and hadn’t been able to lose weight in the past. The food that I had been eating might have been low calorie, but it wasn’t high enough in the nutrients my body needed to tell me it was full. I thought I ate healthy, but the book “Eat to Live” by Joel Fuhrman M.D. has changed my view of eating healthy, and has changed the way my family eats. The book is laid out with a six week plan and after talking to my husband, I decided that I would commit to doing the six weeks exactly as it said, then I would re-evaluate. I started with a 2 day fast that Dr. Bekker recommended. I wasn’t sure how I would feel during that time so we scheduled it at a time when my husband could be there to take care of the kids. I shouldn’t have worried; I felt great on the fast and ended up looking for things to do to keep busy. I went right on into the diet on the last day of my fast. That was at the beginning of October 2009 and by the end of those first 6 weeks I had lost 30 pounds! We did re-evaluate things and after talking to Dr. Bekker I decided to add some lean meat back into my diet, 2-3 times a week. By the middle of February 2010, 4 1/2 months later, I had lost a total of 75 pounds! I feel so good. My energy has returned and I have been enjoying life to the fullest. We have had a very active summer enjoying softball, swimming, volleyball, jet-skiing, bike riding and much more. My husband and children are eating more vegetables and fruits than they have ever had before, and are enjoying them! When I first started this journey I was afraid of failure and didn’t tell anyone that I had changed my eating habits. If we went to a social function I would eat before I went or go out to the car and eat my food there. No one really noticed until I had lost the 30 pounds, but then I couldn’t hide it anymore, nor did I want to. I was proud of myself and had a new confidence that I didn’t have before. Now at social functions I am the one who brings the big salads that everyone loves. If there is anything I can leave with you is this; take it one day at a time or even one meal at a time. I didn’t set goals to be reached by a certain date it was just a day by day journey. Decide today that your will brings good choices. Don’t get overwhelmed with the big picture; just take one little step at a time. You can do it. Thank you Dr. Bekker and staff for all that you have done for me and my family. Lori W.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
Make this simple delicious dish for Thanksgiving!
Time: 10 minutes
Serves 4 people
Spinach with Almonds and Cheese
2 cups of spinach
3 tablespoons of soy cheese or Parmesan
1 cup of sliced almonds (can be found pre-sliced in almost any grocery store)
3 tablespoons of coconut oil (recipe also works well with canola oil and extra virgin olive oil)
1 teaspoon of salt
Thick Cloth (optional)
1. Heat the pan for 3 minutes on high heat.
2. Put in 3 tablespoons of oil on the pan and equally distribute on the surface. Use a thick cloth or fabric to hold the handle if the handle is hot.
3. If you plan to use garlic, cut 3 cloves into tiny squares. Lower the heat halfway and put the squares into the pan.
4. Stir until the garlic is light brown.
Sprinkle the sliced almonds on top of the pan. Stir 1-2 minutes until the almonds turn light brown.
5. Lower heat slightly and then pour all at once the spinach into the pan.
6. Sprinkle the salt evenly over the spinach.
7. Stir well for 5 minutes using a spatula or until the spinach turns dark green and shrinks in size.
8. Pour onto a plate and cover well since the spinach gets cold easily.
